Jal Power Corporation Limited was established on 25th Aug. 2004 under the Companies Act 1956 (1 of 1956) with its registered office at Hyderabad and corporate office at New Delhi. One of the main objective of the company is to carry out the business of establishing and generating Electrical power from conventional and non-conventional sources including Hydel, Wind, Tidal waves, Coal, Gas lignite, Thermal, Solar etc. The company has a wide range of expertise in a variety of specialized construction like execution of underground works relating to Hydro power projects, Railway tunnels, Canals etc.


1. To carry on the business of establishing and generating electrical power by conventional, non-conventional methods including Hydel, Wind, Tidal waves, Coal, Gas lignite, Thermal, Solar, Bio-mass etc. or any other source or through such other sources hereafter invented in connection with a generation of electricity or any power that can be used as substitute thereof.

2. To promote, own, acquire, erect, construct, establish, maintain, improve, manage, operate, alter, carry on, control, take on hire/lease power plants, co-generation power plants, energy conservation projects, powerhouses, transmission and distribution systems.

3. To carry on generation, distribution, transmission and supply of electrical energy and buy, sell, supply, exchange, market, function, as a licensee and deal in electrical power, energy to the State Electricity Board, State Government, Appropriate Authorities, licensees, specific industrial units and other consumers for industrial commercial, agricultural, household and an other purpose in India in accordance with the provisions of Indian Electricity Act, 1910 and Electricity (Supply) Act, 1948 or any other Statutory modifications or reenactment thereof and rules made thereunder.



Shri S. Surendra, Director

A graduate in Engineering and Management having vast experience as Chartered Engineer, in the field of civil engineering, infrastructure projects and hydro power projects with a track record of successfully carrying out business independently for more than a decade.

For the past fifteen years he has gained expertise in construction of under ground Projects, specializing in Under Ground Tunneling, Powerhouse Complexes, Exits etc., and meticulously accomplished the state of art projects. He is well versed with the dynamics of project administration.

A progressive thinker and a planner par excellence, has been leading his team with high vigour and enthusiasm for the timely and successful accomplishment of the projects undertaken.
He has a good professional team for executing Hydropower, and Infrastructure projects all over the country and abroad. The Company has carved out a niche in infrastructure / hydro power projects due to his visionary approach. His entrepreneur acumen is an engineering force behind the growth of the Company.

Shri D.Paul Verma, Director (Technical)

He is a 1965 Graduate in Civil Engineering. He has extensive experience in civil construction spanning a period of over 45 years. In particular, he has considerable hydro power experience in National Hydro Power Corporation Limited (NHPC) where he had been involved in construction related to almost all components of a hydro power projects. He worked in various capacities in NHPC and rose to the rank of Executive Director (Projects). At the end before retirement he was elevated to the rank of Chairman & Managing Director U.P. Jal Vidut Nigam, Lucknow. After retirement he has worked with M/s. Jaiprakash Associates as Director for 3 years and now in Coastal Projects Pvt. Ltd. and Jal Power Corporation Ltd. since 2004.


M.K. Sharma, Managing Director

Has been associated with the planning, design, construction and management of water resources projects for 42 years, and retired as Member (River Management), Central Water Commission. Served as Commissioner in the Ministry of Water Resources and dealt with various aspects of water resources projects, water management, Command Area Development, sharing of water with the neighboring countries and development of water resources in the North East as Chairman, Brahmaputra Board. He has led a number of International delegations to Nepal and Bangladesh and participated in deliberation at the highest level.

R.S. Chadha, Senior Vice President (Technical)

An ex-Chief Engineer, Central Electricity Authority and Director, Central Board of Irrigation and Power, he has about 44 years experience in design and engineering of generating units and associated electro-mechanical auxiliary equipment of hydro power stations and designed more than 15 hydro power stations of the country of various types and sizes including Tala H.E. Project, Bhutan. He has also been associated in planning, appraisal, monitoring and renovation / modernization of hydro power stations and actively involved in bringing out documents on Best Practices in Hydro Power Generation and Ranking studies for development of balance hydro power in the country.

R.C. Katyal, Asstt. Vice President (Project)

A retired Superintending Engineer (Civil) from NPCC/ NHPC. Having 39 years experience in Hydro Electric Project comprising Tunnels/ Concrete Dam/ Rock fill Dam/ Power House. Investigation, preconstruction, construction and maintenance of Salal Hydro Electric Project St. I & II; Nangli Hydel Project (J&K). Associated with Irrigation & Flood Control works in J&K State. Have ably handled and expedited a number of Arbitration cases in NPCC/ Indian Railways (NR).
