PROFILE
Jal Power Corporation Limited was established on 25th Aug.
2004 under the Companies Act 1956 (1 of 1956) with its
registered office at Hyderabad and corporate office at New
Delhi. One of the main objective of the company is to carry
out the business of establishing and generating Electrical
power from conventional and non-conventional sources including Hydel, Wind, Tidal waves, Coal, Gas lignite, Thermal, Solar
etc. The company has a wide range of expertise in a variety of
specialized construction like execution of underground works
relating to Hydro power projects, Railway tunnels, Canals etc.
OBJECTS
OF THE COMPANY
1.
To carry on the business of establishing and generating
electrical power by conventional, non-conventional methods
including Hydel, Wind, Tidal waves, Coal, Gas lignite,
Thermal, Solar, Bio-mass etc. or any other source or through
such other sources hereafter invented in connection with a
generation of electricity or any power that can be used as
substitute thereof.
2.
To promote, own, acquire, erect, construct, establish,
maintain, improve, manage, operate, alter, carry on, control,
take on hire/lease power plants, co-generation power plants,
energy conservation projects, powerhouses, transmission and
distribution systems.
3.
To carry on generation, distribution, transmission and supply
of electrical energy and buy, sell, supply, exchange, market,
function, as a licensee and deal in electrical power, energy
to the State Electricity Board, State Government, Appropriate
Authorities, licensees, specific industrial units and other
consumers for industrial commercial, agricultural, household
and an other purpose in India in accordance with the
provisions of Indian Electricity Act, 1910 and Electricity
(Supply) Act, 1948 or any other Statutory modifications or
reenactment thereof and rules made thereunder.

Shri Biswajit Basu, Director-cum-Chairman DIN: 09003080
Shri Biswajit Basu joined the Board of Jalpower Corporation Limited on March 31, 2021 as Chairman-Nominee Director. Heis graduated from Tripura Engineering College (Now NIT, Agartala) in Electrical Engineering in year 1986 and has diverse experience of more than 33 years in the field of Hydro Power.
Shri Biswajit Basu is associated with NHPC Limited since October, 1987 and steadily rose to current position of Director (Projects) of NHPC Limited with utmost sense of responsibility, ethics and dedication. In his present assignment as Director (Projects), Shri Basu is in-charge of all under construction projects of NHPC, which includes Hydro as well as Renewable Energy Projects. Major functions of various divisions in Corporate Office i.e., Project Monitoring & Support Group (PMSG), IT&C, Construction Equipment Planning & Monitoring (CEPM), Arbitration, Renewable Energy, CSR-SD, Corporate Communications and Estate Management Services are also come under his ambit.
Prior to joining NHPC Board, Shri Basu has served NHPC in various capacities and contributed to most of the projects of NHPC during Construction and O&M Stages. During his stint, he worked as Head of Project of various projects including Chutak Power Station, Loktak Power Station, Dibang Multipurpose Project and Dhauliganga Power Station. During the commissioning of TLDP – III Power Station he was the In-charge of Commissioning Team.He has also worked as CEO of Loktak Downstream Hydroelectric Corporation Limited (LDHCL). He has attended various international Training programs across the countries like Sweden and France under Transfer of Technology Program.
Shri Basu is an avid sports person and had captained NHPC’s Football Team during his tenure at Loktak Power Station (1988-1994) in All India Power Sector Football tournaments.
At present, Shri Basu is also serving as Director (Projects) in NHPC Limited, Nominee Director-Chairman on the Board of Lanco Teesta Hydro Power Limited (LTHPL) and NHPC Renewable Energy Limited (NREL)(wholly owned subsidiaries of NHPC). Also he is a Nominee Director on the Board of Bundelkhand Saur Urja Limited (Joint Venture of NHPC and UPNEDA) and Ratle Hydroelectric Power Corporation Limited(Joint Venture of NHPC and JKSPDC).
Shri Sanjay Kumar Madan, Director DIN No.09050726
ShriSanjay Kumar is an Associate Member of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of India (ICAI) and Institute of Company Secretaries of India (ICSI) also a Science Graduatefrom Delhi University.
Shri Sanjay Kumar Madan has taken over charge of Director of Jalpower Corporation Limited on 31st March, 2021.
He started his career in NHPC as Senior Accountant on 15thNovember 1988. He initially joined at TCU-Jammu and thereafter worked at Chamera-I Project, Chamera-II Project, Regional Office-Siliguri, Internal Audit-Kolkata, Regional Office-Banikhet and Corporate Office, Faridabad in various capacities.
Shri Kumar had been the Head of Finance atRegional Office-Siliguri, Internal Audit-Kolkata, Regional Office-Banikhet andpresently heis working as Executive Director (Finance) in NHPC Limited. He is also serving as Nominee Director on the Board of NHPC Renewable Energy Limited, a wholly owned subsidiary of NHPC Limited.
He has vast experience of more than 32 years in the various areas of Finance with in-depth knowledge and rich experience of Financial, Taxation, Internal Audit,Contractual ,Regulatory issues involved inconstruction as well operations of Hydro Projects ,Corporate Accounts & Policy, Taxation, Banking, Establishment, Investor Relations Sections and various Employees Trusts.
Shri Sanjay Kumar as an outstanding Finance Professional and has made his mark in the sustained growth of the company.
Shri Rakesh Prasad Sharma, Director DIN No. 09050874
Shri Rakesh Prasad Sharma is Civil Engineering Graduate and M.Tech (Hydro Electric) from Maulana Azad College of Technology (now MANIT). He has more than 33 years of professional experience in Hydro Power Sector. Since joining NHPC in November 1987, he has worked in Dulhasti (390MW), Chamera I (540MW),Dauliganga (280 MW) in NHPC where he was involved in various challenging tasks. He has more than six years of experience in the Contracts Management of Civil as well as Electro-Mechanical works.
He has also worked in Indira Sagar Project (1000 MW) of NHDC.Innovative construction methods were used to construct the part of dam after commencing electricity generation from the project. Project was commissioned ahead of schedule.
He was on deputation to Konkan Railway Corporation Limited where he was involved in construction of two most critical tunnels (Padi and Pernem tunnel) in Goa Sector. He received CMD award for outstanding contribution from Mr. E.Sridharan, the then CMD.
He was Director (Technical), Punatsangchhu-I Hydroelectric Project Authority (1200 MW) (on deputation from April 2016to July 2020). He also held additional charge of Director (Technical), Punatsangchhu-II Hydroelectric Project(1020MW) for a period of 15 months.
His experience covers various domains of project management, execution, commissioning and contracts management of hydro power projects/station.
He is presently working as Group General Manager(PMSG) in NHPC and is nominee Director on the Board of Jalpower Corporation Limited since 31st March 2021.
Shri Harsh Singh (59 years), Director
Shri Harsh Singh (59 years) is presently Executive Director in NHPC Limitedand responsible for smooth functioning of CMD Secretariat and overall coordination with internal as well as external authorities on organisational matters.
Shri Singh is having a Diploma in Civil Engineering and graduate in Civil Engineering from Institute of Engineers (India). Now he is Fellow Member of Institute of Engineers (India). He joined in NHPC in 1985 as Junior Engineer (Civil) and in 1989 as Probationary Executive (Civil) at 120 MW Tanakpur Hydroelectric Project (now Tanakpur Power Station), Uttarakhand.
Shri Singh has been working for more than 37 years in various Construction Projects and Different Divisions at Corporate Office of NHPC in various capacities. He possesses experience in all aspects of development of a hydro-project from concept to commissioning.
During his posting in PMSG Division as General Manager (Civil), Shri Singh had been responsible for construction planning and scheduling, monitoring of projects located in Himachal Pradesh and Jammu & Kashmir.
He was involved and played a key role in construction of Uri-II HE Project (240 MW) right from early stage of start of project in 2006 to commissioning in 2013. He was responsible for execution and contract management of entire civil works package of Uri-II Project.
He was also involved in planning, construction and development of NHPC Residential colony, Faridabad spread over 35 acres of land. After obtaining various statutory clearances and approval of Building plans, the work started in April, 2003 and completed in phased manner by July, 2006. The CMD residence as well as some other seniors officers residences were completed and occupancy certificate obtained within 09 months. Honble Minister of Power Inaugurated Residential Colony in April, 2007.
Shri Singh was involved in Tanakpur Project right from Survey Investigations stage to construction and commissioning of project in 1993. Thereafter, in 1995 he was posted at Dhauliganaga HE Project (280 MW), which was lingering on due to land acquisition problems. He played a key and proactive role in acquiring land enabling start of project. He also actively involved in development of road and infrastructure works of the project.
He joined the Board of Jalpower Corporation Limited w.e.f. 1st July, 2022.
Smt. Manjusha Mishra, Director DIN No. 09288726
Smt. Manjusha Mishrais graduate in Civil Engineering from GEC, Bilaspur in 1996 andsubsequently obtained M.Tech degree in Water Resource Engineering from IIT Delhi. She has been working in Design & Engineering division of NHPC Ltd. since 1998 and has been involved in hydrological& hydraulicsaspect of severalhydropower projects in Subansiri Basin, Chenab Basin, Dibang Basin, Jhelum Basin, Sharda Basin, Beas Basin etc in India and Mangdechhu, Chamkharchhuetc in Bhutan along with dam safety aspect of Parbati-III Power Station of NHPC. She has published and presented papers in various International and National forums/Journals such as ICOLD (2018,2019,2021), IWW, Hydro Power & dams, Dam India, Water Power etc. She has been a member of Technical committee on Sedimentation in ICOLD and BIS committee on Hydrometry. Currently,she is posted as General Manager (Civil) inDesign & Engineering Division of NHPC Limited.
Shri Anil Kumar Jain, Director DIN No.09050725
Shri Anil Kumar Jain started his career in NHPC in February, 1985. He has vast experience of more than 36 years in all stages of Hydro-Power Development from concept to commissioning. He has been actively associated with Planning, Design & Engineering, site investigations and construction activities of many large hydroelectric projectsof NHPCwhich includes Subansiri Lower HEP (2000MW) in Assam & Arunachal Pradesh, Teesta-V (510MW) in Sikkim, Uri-I (480MW) in J&K etc.He alsopossessesmore than 3 decades of experience in construction, Survey & Investigations, Operation & Maintenance of Hydro Projects.
He was appointed as Nominee Director on the Board of Jalpower Corporation Limited on 31st March, 2021.
